Turkish Airlines and AJet have flown 100,000 tourists to North Cyprus under the “Island Cyprus” project. The initiative aims to position the TRNC as a global tourism destination with affordable flights and major international promotion.

A bold new chapter in North Cyprus tourism is unfolding as Turkish Airlines and its low-cost subsidiary AJet have already flown around 100,000 tourists to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) under the “Island Cyprus” tourism promotion campaign.
Announced by Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of Turkish Airlines and AJet, the initiative began with a support protocol signed on July 7, and has since seen 550 flights bring travelers to the island, aiming to position the TRNC as a global tourism hotspot.
“Our goal is to reach 1.5 million tourists by the end of the year,” Bolat said, highlighting that 200 weekly flights are currently serving North Cyprus through Turkish Airlines, AJet, and SunExpress.
Beyond tourism, the project is also boosting local employment, with 60 young professionals from the TRNC already hired by AJet. Two aircraft now fly with the special “Island Cyprus” branding, promoting the island’s identity worldwide.
A New Air Bridge Between Europe and North Cyprus
A major launch event is scheduled for August 4 in London, hosted by the TRNC Presidency. To mark the occasion, AJet announced new round-trip tickets from London to Nicosia via Istanbul for just £250, establishing a new air bridge connecting Europe and the TRNC.
Support for Veterans, Martyrs’ Families & Students
In a meaningful gesture, Turkish Airlines has also signed a protocol offering 50% flight discounts to the families of TRNC veterans and martyrs. A similar campaign is in the works to support families of TRNC students studying abroad.
Promoting the Island’s Culture and Nature
Bolat emphasized that the “Island Cyprus” campaign is not just about flights — it’s about sharing the TRNC’s rich culture, natural beauty, and heritage with the world. The project also reflects the deepening ties between Türkiye and the TRNC, serving both economic and cultural diplomacy.
