Türkiye has provided €40 billion in aid to North Cyprus over two years, funding healthcare, roads, and security. Prime Minister Ünal Üstel highlights key projects including new hospitals, airport upgrades, and police expansion.

In a formal ceremony held this week, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) marked the official transfer of new service vehicles donated by Türkiye to the General Directorate of Police, showcasing yet another milestone in the deepening partnership between the two nations.
Massive Financial Support: €40 Billion Over Two Years
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced that Türkiye has provided approximately €40 billion in financial aid to the TRNC in the past two years. This support has been allocated to critical sectors including:
- Healthcare infrastructure
- Road and transport upgrades
- Public safety and internal security
“These investments are the result of strong coordination between President Ersin Tatar and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan,” said Üstel.
Among the most impactful healthcare projects is the new hospital currently under construction in Lefkoşa, with similar facilities now being planned in Gazimağusa and Güzelyurt, signaling a comprehensive health transformation across North Cyprus.
Freedom Day Road Opening: Yonca Intersection Improves Lefkoşa Traffic
Üstel also highlighted the long-awaited Yonca Intersection and ring road, officially opened on July 20 — Freedom Day. This major infrastructure project has significantly eased traffic congestion, improving access to Ercan Airport and the city of Gazimağusa.
Ercan Airport Introduces Biometric Technology
Passenger traffic at the new Ercan Airport has increased by 50%, prompting the installation of modern biometric facial recognition systems—a first for the TRNC. Üstel noted that these high-tech systems, made possible by Turkish support, will soon be expanded to all TRNC border crossings, enhancing both security and efficiency.
600 Police Officers Recruited — With 200 More On the Way
To strengthen the country’s internal security, Üstel confirmed the recruitment of 600 new police officers during his term, with plans to hire an additional 200 soon. This expansion will bolster the capabilities of the TRNC Police Force amid growing demands for public safety.
Firefighting Equipment Enhanced: High-Ladder Truck Delivered
In response to rising fire risks, especially during the summer, a new high-ladder fire truck has been delivered to the TRNC as part of the emergency services upgrade. Üstel emphasized the vehicle’s strategic importance in protecting both urban and rural communities.
This comprehensive aid and modernization package from Türkiye represents a transformative moment for North Cyprus, reinforcing the TRNC’s infrastructure, public safety, and international visibility. northcyprusinvesting.com, Investra.io
